Paper

Materials are of great interest to me and I explore their strengths and limitations as I work. I use layering and transparency to increase a complexity of expression.

I am a non-objective painter first-- focusing on color, composition, contrast and shape. I often allow these elements to lead me to develop a secondary, figurative theme.

Many times, a secret narrative emerges with these figures. I like to compare them to scenes and people glimpsed from a moving train, leaving behind brief indelible images with the viewer.
